Jackson Car

It is with a heavy heart that we advise that Jackson Car, a DVE National Team Swimmer, passed away yesterday after his valiant battle with cancer. Jackson was 22 years old.

Jackson had been swimming since he was a young boy. Prior to joining DVE, he swam for Ivanhoe Neons. Jackson joined the club on 4th February 2018 in season 2017/18. It was then that Coach Brian took him under his wing. He was with the club for 5 seasons.

Throughout his time with DVE, Jackson qualified for every State Championships and National Championships. He even qualified in the 200m Fly at the 2021 Australian Swimming Trials in Adelaide before COVID restrictions stopped him.

What a beautiful butterfly stroke Jackson had, showing us all how strong and agile he really was!

Jackson was an amazing, dedicated, hard working team player. He was always willing to help out on Club Nights with the younger children, helping them navigate their way through warm ups and having an encouraging word on the side.

He was a humble young man who always turned up to training and never complained about the set he was given.

Jackson was described by one of his DVE Aquatic friends as being “determined to achieve his goals and perseverant when faced with any difficulties or problems in his swimming journey.”

How we will miss his warm, friendly, smiling face on pool deck!

Deepest condolences to Jackson’s family - Tim, Melissa, Brodie, Hayley and Lucas - during this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Rest in peace, Jackson.
